Windows 7 DX11 Receives a Boost in Performance

Users running Windows 7 can now download an update to improve performance and essentially boost DirectX 11 in Windows 7. The update should also provide a performance boost to Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM.

There are very few details about the specifics of the graphics update. If you visit the support download page here,  you will receive very little information detailing what is being done other than some vague references to providing new functionality and performance enhancements.

The update, labeled ‘KB2028560′, will work in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavours of Windows 7 and is not only available through the download center, but will also come in Windows Update.

Here is a table of the DX files that are apparently being updated, per Microsoft’s Support page:

A few users in different comment sections have noticed a boost in performance after updating, however, I have not tested the update out on my home machines, so update at your own risk. Have any readers already downloaded the update and noticed a performance increase? Let us know below.
