The Ultimate Wallpaper Switcher For Windows 7

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the great wallpaper switcher built right into Windows 7. It automatically switches your wallpapers at certain time intervals, ie. every 10 mins or every hour.

I’ve been very impressed with this feature, and though it’s a simple little thing, I think it’s a nice touch to personalizing your desktop. In the past this feature wasn’t built into Windows, and you had to use third party programs to achieve the same result.

I can’t really imagine myself using an additional program for this feature, but that was until I stumbled across John’s Background Switcher.

It adds a whole new dimension to the Windows 7 background switcher. It let’s you bring in photos from external sources to use in your backgrounds as well.

You can choose to display:

  • Individual pictures on your computer.
  • Folders containing pictures on your computer such as ‘My Pictures’.
  • Flickr photo sharing – selecting pictures by person, tags, sets or just plain random. You never know what you’re going to get next!
  • Facebook – your friends photos on your desktop!
  • Vladstudio wallpapers – choose from the coolest wallpapers on the net!
  • Any Media RSS feed – choose pictures from sites like DeviantArt, Photobucket,LOLCats and Zooomr amongst many others!
  • Phanfare web albums– keep up to date with your friends and family.
  • smugmug photo galleries – yours, your friends, anybody’s!
  • Picasa Web Albums – choose from specific albums or any search text.
  • Webshots – if you’re a Webshots user, you can choose from your online or downloaded photos and collections.
  • Google Image Search – get pictures from anywhere across the internet.
  • Bing Image Search – not a Google fanboy? Then Bing is for you!
  • Yahoo! image search – the internet is your oyster!

So as you can see with JBS (John’s Background Switcher) you have a lot more options for displaying your pictures.

What’s more you can even choose to have different pictures displaying on different monitors and have special effects like a postcard piles, mosaics and tiles instead of just a single image. It’s quite impressive the range of customization.
