Microsoft are constantly pushing and shoving businesses to try and get them to upgrade to the latest versions of their software, be it Internet Explorer or Windows 7. Why?, Well when businesses begin to adopt your product, you know you’ve done something right.
A recent study carried out shows that more than half of those who took part were planning on having some machines in their corporation running Windows 7 by the end of the year.
The survey was carried out by Dimensional Research, on 923 businesses in January, and it found that some 16 percent of businesses are already running some Windows 7, with a further 42 percent planning to start their loading their machines with it by the end of 2010.
Of course this news bodes well for Microsoft and Dimensional Research analyst Diane Hagglund, says that;
“It is just very positive about Windows 7,they are planning to deploy it. They are planning to deploy it fast.”
Now this is a stark contrast when we look back at what businesses had to say about adopting Windows Vista. It’s certainly good news not only for Microsoft but also for the rest of us as it shows that businesses are getting ready to spend money on upgrading their IT systems and hopeful help lift the global economy.
While businesses are more than willing to upgrade to Windows 7, they still have some worries. 57% of businesses surveyed said they still had some worries about upgrading their machines to the new OS, however this is a drop of 10% compared to a survey carried out in April 2009.
However this is understandable since IT plays such an important role in businesses these days and upgrading technology always has its issues, especially for large businesses. Businesses aren’t so concerned about security and stability, since Windows 7 has proven itself here. Instead they are more concerned about application compatibility.
