How To Resize Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnails

View Comments March 12, 2010 | Robert Boland

One of the great new features in Windows 7 is Aero Peak ( click here for more on Aero Features ) which allows you to see a preview of a window by hovering over it in the task bar. However, for users with large high resolution monitors, they may find it difficult to make out these thumbnails and they can be pretty useless.

Well now there’s a great little program called Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customer 1.1(W7TTC for short), a free utility that lets you make thumbnails just about any size you want.

It’s quite simple really, there’s not a lot to it. Simply download the program from here and extract the folder. You don’t even have to install it, just run the program and it will pop up in a new window.

thumbnail resize How To Resize Windows 7 Taskbar ThumbnailsTo change the size of the thumbnail previews, just drag the “Thumbnail Size” ” Maximum Size” upwards of the default 200. Then you have to hit “Apply Changes ” before you see any difference.

As you can see you can also change other things like the delay time as well as spacing and margins.

And of course, if you decide that you don’t like what you’ve done you can always hit ” Restore Defaults ” to put it back to normal.

Overall it’s a handy little app, that doesn’t need to be installed or anything and it adds a feature that Microsoft probably should have built into Windows 7.

So go and play around and let me know what you think of it.
