Microsoft Sees Business PC And Server Sales Picking Up Soon

While Windows 7 has been a major success for Microsoft so far amongst consumers, it’s a different story at the moment with businesses. Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Peter Klein, announced that Microsoft has shipped over 90 million copies of Windows 7. Yet they are still struggling to wrap up impressive sales figures with businesses.

Klein told those gathered for a Morgan Stanley investor conference that year 2011 would see the beginnings of a revival in enterprise technology spending. He says that the large majority of businesses are getting ready to deploy Windows 7 over the next 18-24 months.

“We feel very well-positioned for growth as the economy recovers,” There will be an enterprise refresh cycle,”It’s not precisely certain when that will happen or how fast that will happen, but we expect it to happen this calendar year and go into next calendar year, and that will be a really good catalyst for growth for our PC business.”

He told the audience at the Morgan Stanley Investor Conference. Microsoft had announced in October that they had shipped some 60 million copies of Windows 7 and now as mentioned earlier, they have increased that figure to 90 million. Peter Klein says that this figure was largely spurred on by “Strong consumer demand”

Of course it is probably one of the hardest times for Microsoft to try and get itself into businesses. Corporate budgets for IT spending have all been frozen as they all slowly start to recover from a global recession.
