Windows 7 on the iPad? (Maybe They’ll Sell a Few Now)

Much of the disappointment in the iPad lies in its inability to run multiple tasks. I know I don’t have a need for a huge iPhone and after reading loads of bad press regarding the new device, I realize now that many are thinking the same things that I am. However, there may be light at the end of the tunnel for people wanting something with an Apple logo, but with the versatility of Windows 7 (as all Apple fans do).

There are many emulators and windows-look-alike programs out there for the iPhone, but you are very limited because the screen real estate is severely lacking. However, the 1024X768 resolution of the iPad coupled with the 9.7 inch screen just might allow users to actually do something other than play with iTunes, read iBooks and surf the non-flash supported web.

The folks at Citrix have already managed to run Windows 7 on the iPad SDK Emulator via Citrix Receiver and XenDesktop 4 and as the folks Sizzledcore.com have noted, this may open up options for other OSes like Android on the iPad.

It’s still early, but this is good news for the web-displaying paper weight that is the iPad…just kidding, but not really.

Would the option to run other OSes cause more users to adopt the iPad, how about you? I think that I would just prefer to buy a cheaper tablet running Windows 7 or Android than spend $500 minimum on a device just because it has a fruit logo on it.
