i only think mac are bad because they are a ripoff. The os is fine but when i can get a pc twise as fast as a mac at a lower price, i just can't not think that macs are a pos. There is no way you can buy a mac and not find a pc in the same price range that blows it away with power. If anyone wants a mac, buy a pc and make it a hackintosh. There is no reason to blow $1500 on a dual core laptop with a picture of a fruit on it. Or else get linux which is alot better than mac because it is free and actually is pratically virus free. [depending on what version you get]

What OS X does is to be what Linux wishes it could be. An industrial-strength Unix OS that doesn't require overweight beardos to administer them.

Where I work (doing software to facilitate brain imaging research), we've bought a bunch of Mac Pro workstations for 3 reasons a) Our development platform has traditionally been Unix (first SGI/Irix, then Linux) and b) the hardware has been way more reliable than (for example) the Dell desktops we buy both for office work and Linux scientific computing and c) once our educational discount is figured in, the price is very competitive on a MIPS per $ basis.

But the religious war over platform is a waste of time. I use Windows at home because it's less expensive platform, it supports the software I need to use, and it's good enough. OS X is great too, but in the end they're boxes that do things, not objects of desire or mystical powers.

Linux is good for you. Its free. All the best.
Its not poeple think. I'm using Mac since 1989

Mac OS 7 in 1992 - PC user are using DOS PC

Mac OS 8 in 1995 - PC user are using Windows 95/98

Mac OS 9 in 2000 - PC user are using ME/2000

Mac OS X June 2001 - PC user are using XP (Introduced in 2001 Nov)

Mac OS X 2006 - Vista

Mac OS X 2009 - Windows 7

Window 7 is still not match to power, simplicty, integration, features, ease of use what Mac offers.

So,finally Windows users have waited for 9 long years to use windows 7 which is still not close to mac OS X.

But, if price is concern then switch to Linux. Its free and there is lot of options in Linux and runs on any pc.

This is a age old war between Apple and Microsoft. Since late 80's and early 90's. When Apple was betrayed by Microsoft on Macintosh GUI technology. Apple since then Refers to "Microsoft running computers as a PC". Mac is also a PC. But, Apple call it a Mac because its Machintosh and to differentiate between windows PC.

So, PC is "windows running PCs" by Apple.

Since Mac OS X introduction in 2001 Microsoft is trying get close to Apple's experience but failed.
XP 2001, Vista 2006 and Windows 7 2009. Till date Mac OS X is most matured and has hundreds of features that are easy of use. which Windows 7 couldn't really achieve. The author himself didn't use Mac much. Extensive usage of OS is the only way. So, The power of Mac is in its simplicity, tools, integration of applications and iLife.

Easy of use, Apple scripts and automator and many many more which Windows 7 lack. Sure with this pressure on MS made Windows 7 to adopt aero shake, aero snap like features. But, Microsoft has to implement more like this to get close to Mac OS X.

I remember in 2004 when i bought my printers, camcorder, Digital camera, external dvd drive all just worked by just hooking them to the Mac without the installing any drivers like our XP friends use to do.

Well, Many mac users use windows on bootcamp for missing apps on Mac side like availability of more games, and windows only apps like autocad etc.

Since 2007 Apple i supporting Bootcamp.Which is great for people who can get the best out of both OSs. I use Mac OS X has primary OS and have Windows 7 installed with bootcamp. Incase i find some application which is good and windows specific i will use windows too. But, I will be very happy if the same application is available on Mac OS X.

Um… this article makes no sense, as stated already, a Mac IS a PC, in fact Apple used the term PC to describe Windows.

Anyway, I think that Apple should stop the OS market and just do the phone market.

love the accuracy of things here with Mac and PC…PC stands for personal computer…be it Apple (Macintosh), Dell, Asus, Acer, Sony or custom built it can be running Linux, Windows, OSX, or DOS…it's a PC, it computes and it's personal…ITS A GOD DAMN PC! Mac is a shortening of Apple branded machine, just because a computer runs Apple's proprietry OS doesnt automaticly make it not a PC Apples computers do what computers should…they compute and if anything are more personal than any other form of computer so they're more a PC than any other machine. I wish people who write these sorts of articles would actualy think about what they're writing and get their definitions straight

Both O/S's are polished and are popular. Lets also say that as long as it gives an end user what they want, the end user is probably happy. Correct?

OS10 and Win are just tools. Nothing more. Lets focus somewhere else.
