Are you running Windows 7 with a non-standard language installed? I've noticed a lot of Office installation issues are from language packs being installed. Perhaps try running it in English (EN_US) and restart the install.

Im Running Windows 7Ultimate x64 Edition, when I run the MSO 2010 Installer it says it fails as the Operating system is not supported, it then proceeds to list supported operating systems including Windows 7 x64 ????
