BSOD is a direct result of virus program written and distributed by Steve Jobs because he hated Microsoft and the 98 percent people around the world using windows instead of the mac. Jobs was so jealous and envy of Bill Gates and his company, so he wrote it virus program to intercept microsoft updates and infected millions of windows users around the world. That program was configured to take affect right after Jobs death. Black screen of death to symbolize his black turttle neck. Soon Microsoft will find out the hidden coded message that Jobs left inside that virus program.

This worked for the BSOD after Windows 7 SP1 install. Amazing Microsoft has not release a similar fix.

i hate microsoft there stuff is full of bugs that take years to get a fix (if any) someone needs to take them down with a nice easy to use stable OS that does not have a load of crap built into it

i am also having the same problem as you…

what you can do to open the browser:
1) press Windows key + U (to open the “Ease of Access Center”)
2) Navigate to C:Windows (click the address bar which says “Control PanelEase of AccessEase of Access Center”)
3) Open explorer.exe
4) Continue doing your impt stuff (drawback: you can’t load any HTTPS sites, and aero is also stuck)

i’ll try the fix and post back again…

This does not work for me.. the BSOD hangs before windows 7 starts up.. I see the screen that says.. “starting windows” with the windows logo.. then bam.. BSOD I can move the mouse on screen.. but ctrl alt del does nothing..

Had this problem for over a month. Thought I had fixed it several times. But it always came back.

Now heres the real solution everyone:

Windows 7 has compatibility issues with some Anti-virus vendors. It does not affect everyone, its down to a fluke of hardware I guess.

The solution is simple: Un-install your anti-virus program – then install Windows Security Essentials. Its free from Microsoft & does not cause the BSOD effect that vendor programs do.

I know MS is looking into the issues with other vendors as are the vendors.
So Maybe one day we can all install the anti-virus of our choice.

But for now if you are getting BSOD’s all the time & you are sure your hardware is fine then give my solution a go. You have nothing to lose as its free!.

This fix worked for me on the first try, but I have restarted after a mistaken hard shutdown, tried the fix file again, but does not work this time…. any other ideas?

I’m glad I didn’t make the jump to Windows 7 yet, I always find it’s better to wait a year or so before getting a new OS from MS.

Having said that I may be moving to MAC soon anyway…

This happened to me on Vista. I started panicking when this happened (I was in class), so I left the class ASAP that day. I went to Best Buy (I don't know why, it's under warranty there) for some help. The guy at Geek Squad showed me this same method as mentioned in the article and the fix worked (Task Manager > New Task > explorer).
