Want to Host a Windows 7 Launch Party?

View Comments September 3, 2009 | Mustafa El Damaty

Last week we reported that Microsoft decided to set up a big launch event for Windows 7 in New York, just like it did with its predecessor (Windows Vista). However, it seems that Microsoft isn’t doing everything ‘exactly’ same way as it did with Windows Vista. Instead, it has come up with new ideas to celebrate its launch.

Users living in any of the following countries have the opportunity not only to participate in a Windows 7 launch event, but also get the chance to actually host them:

Australia, Italy, Canada, Japan, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, USA, Hong Kong, UK and India

If you’d like to apply, head to Global Windows® 7 Launch Party website, choose your country and fill out the registration form. If you have a House Party or Windows Live or Facebook account, you can skip this step by signing in. You should then be able to choose a day from between October 22-29 and check the status of your application.

You’ll be assisted by House Party, the world’s leading party organizer. Pick a theme, then upload photos and videos, chat with other hosts, blog your experience, and download fun favors all from your personal House Party page.

Now here’s the ‘good’ part: applicants that get selected (yes, not everyone is chosen) will get the following:

  • A Signature Edition of Windows® 7 Ultimate - The “Signature Edition” of Windows Vista came in a deluxe box that contained a unique number and the signature of Bill Gates, so Windows 7 will most likely have the same thing.
  • Windows® 7 Party Pack - Microsoft hasn’t given any details about what it will contain.
  • Furthermore, the possibility to win a PC that is worth $750!

As an extra special party favor, hosts have a good chance of winning a PC worth $750! Become a host — you’re in. Winners will be notified, and prizes delivered after October 30, 2009.

If you’re willing to apply, then you better hurry as Microsoft states that “host spaces are very limited”. For more information, visit the Global Windows® 7 Launch Party website.
