Powershell 2.0 RTM Says Hi to Vista, XP

Powershell 2.0, one of the latest products from Microsoft, an extensible command line from Microsoft with a scripting language, will now be backported back to Vista and XP as PowerShell also went gold with the release of the Windows 7 RTM.

Apparently, PowerShell has already been ported to Vista somewhat, as an RC is now available on Connect that also provides a slightly more detailed description:

Microsoft Windows PowerShell is a new command-line shell and scripting language designed for system administration and automation. Built on the .NET Framework, Windows PowerShell enables IT professionals and developers to control and automate the administration of Windows and applications.

According to a post on the PowerShell blog by Osama Sajid, a Program Manager at Microsoft, PowerShell 2.0 for XP SP3 and Vista SP1 will be released “in the next few months.”
