Regular reader Frankie has just let us know that Windows 7 RTM is now available on the Technet and MSDN download sites. All versions of Windows 7 are available for download, including Premium, Professional and Ultimate.
Software Assurance subscribers will be able to download Windows 7 RTM from Friday from the Volume Licence Software Centre website. Other large businesses will be able to get access to the final version on 1 September.
Predictions that large corporations will skip Windows Vista and move straight to Windows 7 appear to be true. My company with over 100k employees, sent an email around this week saying that the long overdue Windows Vista upgrade was going to be scraped and instead they will be moving to Windows 7 before the end of the year. I was stunned by this as my company is not very progressive…they’ve only just increased mailbox sizes from 30MB to 150MB for instance…
I just hope they don’t create an awful corporate build that slows Windows 7 down to a snails pace.
