The reason I think this was left out was due to compatibility and stability. I use to run DreamScene some until it would crash the desktop from switching video modes when playing a game or using a video app. (On a player or encoder of some sort.) Given it is a huge resource drain and could make Windows 7 not appear as quick I think they ditched it.

I used to like dreamscence until I installed a second monitor.

Can't seem to figure out how to have two different dreamscences for each monitor so I discontinue using dreamscence.

Still, too bad Window 7 is not including it but I am sure there are plenty third party programs that do the same.

I happen to like the new background shuffling, it's a great feature. However I understand your frustration, the DreamScene is way cool also. I don't know why they don't include both... I mean, the code is clearly done for both of them. These are the kind of "above the covers" things that average users see and like.. most could give a darn about what's under the cover as long as it runs, it's quick and secure (like my dad could care less if WinFS ever makes it into a Windows release).

Personally, I'd like to see more default gadgets. I've never been impressed with the offerings that can be added on.

There is a way to activate the Dreamscene feature in Windows 7 by downloading the patch found here. http://www.ziddu.com/download/3175952/Windows7-DreamScene.exe.html

Try it out, it works on both RC and RTM versions of Windows 7.

The same feature has been available for ages with the freeware media player from videolan (VLC player). I know it's much better to have it integrated into the OS but... if you really like this feature, you might try to see if the player is compatible with win 7.

Cheers

Now I have to go download a program that can open a rar file. Yes I know I can do that, but the point is very well made! To get dreamscene on your desktop isn't easy! You hear me Microsoft!
I'll just wait until the final version of Windows 7. By then I hope the hack is more stable, and even reversable. So I don't have to worry about how my system is going to be.

Here is a link to the 64 bit patch for Windows 7. I just installed it and it works fine on the release candidate. The file has the .rar extension. If you decompress it and run it it will not work properly. Use 7 zip to unpack the file. It will unpack to an .exe .
You can then unpack the .exe to the individual files. Follow the readme and copy the 2 files to their proper directories. Then right click on the .reg file and select merge.
It is a somewhat tedious process but it works. Make sure to reboot.

Just "Nope"?
Why even post the message
I have googled it with your misspelling of "verision" corrected and I still can not find it. why waste our time mentioning a patch that is unavailable?!
