I run both systems, although for stability, security, start up time and overall speed I prefer my MACs. Software availability on the windows platforms is definitely a plus, start up speed and the registry corruption on the windows systems is a constant source of frustration I have yet to find a version of windows that has truly been stable since 3.11. NT was good, XP is a constant source of frustration particularly on the security side. I am just beginning to use a vista machine and so far find the security aspects to be really frustrating I will install windows 7 as soon as it is available and try to bypass vista altogether.

I really want a stable and secure escape from XP.....

PCs and MACs both have good and bad, Apple has some pricing issues, fortunately for me I can always find some one who thought they'd try a mac and then find they don't like the software or their favorite game isn't available, they sell them in the price range of the PCs.

I build and service my own rigs. I'm not crippled if the GUI fails to load. I want true customization and power without being treated as if my computer is a Fisher-Price toy, nor be told by some POS software that my computer is in violation of their BS EULA. Even if I never exercise it, I want the ability to review, modify and contribute to the software that's running on my rigs.

Was a PC, now Mac king in the PCs world at home and dads office. Kinda impossible to buy Xserve and ten macs because of this crisis (the price would be sooooooooo high), so its much easier to upgrade some pcs and get Win 7. And as for me, I dont see any big difference between these systems. They are both good and suck at the same moment, imho.

I am a pc simply because Microsoft is a good company with good people. Microsoft has donated multi million dollars to community. They make money, but they try to give some of them back and maintains economy. Microsoft has done very much for education (dreamspark.com) and invested lots of money in education. Because of MSFT, millions of people have jobs. They listen to customer feedback and try to improve their product.

I am pc, have been since my uni days waaaaay to many moons ago. I had some exposure to macs back then but they were expensive and limited in screen size - anyone remenber the Mac SE? Ok, so I am showing my age. Sure, windows has had its dud versions but XP was solid and W7 looks to be a winner.
I too don't like open source but that is because I don't like uncontrolled releases and tweaks. As an environment to support in the corporate arena, it would be a nightmare. Imagin supporting 2000+ laptops which could all be potentially different in their setup and level of update. Corporate SOE with auto updates blocked has distinct support advantages as you have only 1 version of the truth to deal with.

You hate open source? May I ask why? You aren't required to modify anything. It's possible for someone to make an improvement, and then pass it on to you. I use Windows, so I'm not a Linux fanboy but that is a stupid thing to say. You seem to be a Microsoft fanboy and that is just as annoying as Apple fanboys.

I'm a PC ftw! Microsoft all the way. I use Windows 7 RC right now for personal and business use and I love every aspect of it. I hate Apple and Open Source that's why I don't use. I'm investing for my ULTIMATE PC.

I can't really think to myself how apple manages to brainwash people into buying their products, maybe its because they're aware that they need to mislead n00bs with their false ads in order to survive.

I`m a PC. I use windows, but I wish I could go Linux, but the lack of 3D software on Linux and Mac is stoping me to change that. Maybe in the future it will be different. I`ll wait, but for now, I`m kinda satisfied.

I honestly think that PCs are better. Now, it's not because Apple sucks, or Mac sucks, in fact I like the way the Mac works. But then I realize, Macs don't run on all of my games, which some don't have a Mac version, and all the Mac really is is just a basic operating system with tons of candy graphics. I mean, you cannot change the window color, or do much customization with the dock (as in different styles, animations, etc).*
Then in the PC, they have a lot of candy graphics too, but they actually allow you to customize it all! Plus their market share is very great. But the main reason why I like Windows, especially XP, Vista and 7, because I like how, despite the torture, harassment, etc that Microsoft gets from fan boys and Apple, they still keep going, doing their best. With Windows 7 the argument is 'it's just another Vista', but they say it as if there hasn't been any improvements. But Windows7, as we all know, is just Vista, with more features and a slightly changed interface!
We could look at Snow Leopard and say the same thing, 'it's just Leopard under the hood, there's nothing new', and they would argue that it's really faster, more safer, etc. I find it sad how people not only believe but defend their choices via what Apple and fan boys say.

*The default OS, without any modifications, such as downloads, mods, etc. Straight from the box.

But Windows7, as we all know, is just Vista, with more features and a slightly changed interface!
We could look at Snow Leopard and say the same thing, ‘it’s just Leopard under the hood, there’s nothing new’, and they would argue that it’s really faster, more safer, etc. I find it sad how people not only believe but defend their choices via what Apple and fan boys say.

I'm a person actually, and see no point in the 'i'm a pc' or 'i'm a mac' label. I do use a PC, and as a technician have maintained PCs for dozens of people. But then here in the UK, macs are very few and far between anyway.

@the MP
I have to disagree there. Just because the computer isn't called a PC by it's developers, doesn't change the fact that it's using an intel x86/64 processor in intel motherboards using off-the-shelf computer memory, hard didks, and graphics cards.
The difference is the TPM chip installed on the motherboard which gives Mac OS the go ahead to install. A physically identical computer system, with a monitor (although admittedly a less attractive one), keyboard, mouse, etc, will come in at least 35% cheaper than a mac based on the EXACT same hardware.
Assuming the monitor is the expensive part would be too easy, the monitors are good but not THAT good. And a monitor isn't even a core component of a computer, so I'm slightly getting off the point here. A mac IS a generic computer in a shiny case, with a higher price tag.

@ paul
1, because a computer is intel, that doesn't make it a'pc' if you want to go that route
2, pc stands for 'personal computer' so even before mac went intel, they were still 'pc'
3, the reason we windows people have associated windows with pc is because not only is it easier to say pc but apple has chosen to classify us as 'pc' in their ads. so the world now associates 'pc with 'windows'
4, while technically it is a 'myth' apple has chosen to ignore themselves as 'pc' and given us that label. long story short :P
