@andy
after re-reading the article, i honestly dont see any hard evidence of "bias" mike is simply stating a prediction from his observations and experiences. he says he "thinks" apple is going to have a nasty response. he doesn't say "will" so its not like hes asserting something as absolute truth. thats just one example.
has msft resorted to mudslinging like apple has? no, has apple shown that they are moving beyond their childish mudslinging? no. do all OSES have basic similar functions? yes. slight differences, dependent on user preference, working on similar release cycles? yes. ive read the whole simple vs easy debate in a bunch of other reports and forums so thats a valid assertion.
does mike say window is better than apple in every respect, does he say msft will destroy apple and apple sucks, etc....no
where is this bias you speak of? i think you are just looking for it where there really is none. of course, when people like something over something else s' competition, there is usually a little or a hint of bias, its human nature, in this article i see no evidence of hardcore one sided bias. i see the evidence of what he talks about in a lot of places so its hard to deny.
i assumed you were a fanboi because oddly enough, thats how many of them act, and worse. like i said earlier, no matter what the story is, if it isn't glorifying apple, they are biased and being paid off. quick example, some tech blogger was reviewing a zune 120 a while ago, he stated he like it better than the ipod and ppl accused him of being paid off and biased...RETARDED.
another thing, while this is windows7news. there is room for prediction and that what this piece is, a prediction so there is room for error, it shouldnt be taken as absolute truth. sure there is a probability that it will or will not happen so i dont see where your issues lie.

For the record, I use a Vista machine, a Windows 7RC machine and an OS X machine. I've used both Windows and OS X for a long time principally because neither of them will do everything I want them to do.
You assume I'm a 'apple fan boi' when I'm nothing of the sort. On another site, not so long ago, I was seen to be criticising the graphics capabilities of macs. What I do find irritating, and ultimately pretty pointless, is biased reporting and I disagree that because this is a Windows7 site that that somehow validates it. It doesn't. Bias is bias.

That also annoys me. Those Apple ads where someone thinks they are 'cool' because they use a Mac. Here's the thing. No matter how hard you try, you can never make a computer that will <strong>never</strong> break down. If your PC breaks, you can repair it very quickly at your local computer store. If your Mac breaks, you have to contact an Apple store, pay a ton of money, hear excuses that it's your fault, etc.

Apple seems to have the attitude that they are the best, which is okay, but when you downright lie to your customers, then it's annoying.

for one, this is WINDOWS7news, not windows and mac happy fun time news. of course there might be a little bias because this is a news site for people all about win 7. in this case, it isn't even all that obvious or intended.
thats besides the point, this is something i see very often see from apple fan bois. no matter what the story is, if its not glorifying apple, msft must be paying them.
@nomadewolf
64 bti has been around for a good while at the msft camp and the only reason if itsnt the only choice YET is becaues since the userbase is so huge, there needs to be support for all of that hardware and software. as time passes and all that is left in the past, 64-bit should be the only route left. apple has the luxury of being able to completely shut out its 32-bit variations because their user base is much lower and there wouldnt be that much of an impact. if the roles were reversed, people would be giving apple guff for still having 32 and 64 bit options

Internet Explorer I can agree with, should be optional.
Media Player - A lot of people use, espicially for burning music.
Movie Maker - A lot of people use
Defender - Free anti spy ware, everyone wants this
And security essentials, free anti virus - both are light weight.
When you connect to a network, it actually lets you choose what files you want to share and what you don't want to, it also has 2 seperate firewalls,1 for home, 1 for public, so if you want to share files for your home, and not share them for anywhere else, you can do that. Cause each connection you choose home, work, or public. Most people don't even know what "source code" is, they just want a simple OS, which 7 is.
I like Mac, I just like Windows better.
Mac has a nice GUI, I just like Window's GUI better. The only thing I can see Mac winning over windows is iTunes and iMovie and security (But more security means less customization). But on Windows computers you can never get viruses either, a lot of people "just aren't smart" And i'm talking common sense... I also think Mac's are overly priced, which is why a lot of people have a PC.
Also they don't remove comments just because your against Microsoft, they remove them because the comments are either pointless or complete Hatred (and not your opinion) towards Microsoft. And also the drives from Vista are suppose to work on Windows 7 because as they promised "Better Compatibility" and it is already showing, programs that didn't work on Vista works on 7 now.
And what do you mean, 7 is just like paying for vista all over again. That is just the same as saying Snow Leopard is just like paying for 10 all over again. Flat opinion.
Mac is also far behind, as Windows 7 was being worked on before Mac even had touch screen....
And to "<cite>g1lmour" post, I don't think it is the other way around, I think he is right.</cite>

If you're happy with paying for Vista RC2 3 years later, and if you already have Vista, that will be the second time you pay for it.
And when you install it, it installs:
Internet Explorer
Media Player
Movie Maker
Defender
etc
Without your permission. Then, when you connect to network, it shares all your media without you telling it to. And you don't even have the source code, so you don't know what it's doing to your computer...

Totally supported!
They even remove comments against Microsoft. That happened to me! And i've only expressed my opinion!
I'm not an Apple or MS fan. All i want is that both companies compete with each other so that the consumers get the best product ever. In order to achieve that, we (consumers) have to stop aplauding this 'move' (and many others) from Microsoft where they try to sell the same thing they already FORCED on us, and make us pay again...

The previous Mac OS was also 64Bit. Apple made the change long ago and their customers didn't even noticed it.
The thing is, that only the kernel, the drivers and few other stuff are in 64Bit, in the case of XP, Vista and W7. So basically, the OS doesn't bennefit much from the 64Bit architecture.
As for Snow Leopard, all the system applications were rewritten in 64Bit, so the 64Bit ACTUALLY have some purpose other than let you have 4 or more GB of RAM...
So, Snow Leopard is the World's first TRUE 64Bit desktop OS. And that means something. It won't be another 3 (if not 10) years before Microsoft do that (if it does....)

All I'm hearing is blinkered and biased propaganda from you guys. You need to get that sorted if you're to be thought of as credible.

All I'm hearing is blinkered and biased propaganda from you guys. You need to get that sorted if you're to be thought of as credible.

Sorry to disagree with you, but i think it's completely the opposite...
Windows 7 is just Vista faster + new look.
It's EXACTLY the same kernel, and the features are about the same. Even the Vista drivers work in W7. Even vLite, and GRUB (bootloader) recognise W7 as Vista.

As for Snow Leopard:
It was completely rewritten in 64Bit.
OpenCL
Grand Central
But, looks the same...

I think that your opinion is because Snow Leopard looks the same, and W7 seems a bit more different. But "under the hood", where it matters, it's the other way arround.

Apple doesn't need to give an answer to Microsoft. Microsoft is the one who needs to give an answer. Snow Leopard is much more advanced than W7. Its entirely built in 64Bit, and Apple has made the move from 32Bit sooner, faster, and easier than Microsoft. And so, i think it has more experience. Also, it doesn't need to worry about two OSes (32 & 64Bit).
Adding to that, we have OpenCL & Grand Central.
What is W7? Is what Vista should have been, with a new interface... And we have to pay for it AGAIN... So, we pay twice for the same because Microsoft screwed up. And we could we waiting for Windows 8 and it's features... and instead everyone is happy to pay for the screw up. And have an OS wich is a generation behind...
Also, about why OSes all look similar... Maybe, it's because Microsoft copies the others... Maybe...
And i have Linux Mint, and THAT's AN OS! I can't play Praetorians in W7 because the graphics get all funky, but in Mint + WINE it runs better than in windows... Even Call of Duty gets more FPS... How do you explain that?
Bottom line, Microsoft still has a long, long, long, long, long way to go. And it's not a Vista R2 that will solve those problems.

@matt
please correct me if im wrong, but i see snow leopard as the equivalent to a service pack, i see windows 7 as a new OS.
so basically snow leopard is charging for the service pack (which i disagree at) and windows 7 is charging for a whole new system (which i agree with)
i own both systems by the way, i use windows for pretty much everything, office, gaming, and playing media, but i use my mac as a netbook and media creations, personally i feel that buying the mac was a mistake because with the new windows 7 i can use several media creation applications with the current PC hardware i have, and now it works. so ive spent a hell of alot for a netbook at the end of the day :/
i love my apple and i love my windows, i started with the apple and i ended up liking the windows more, just my personal opinion, i just find the apple too hidden and sneaky, if you know what i mean, never telling you what its doing and always everything is under the hood, you cant hack it much, at first i didnt like the windows because you could hack it and fiddle around with it, but now i have become a much more avid user of computers, i realise this is a necessary evil.
just my 2 pence

*sigh* look I don't see why Windows 7 Ultimate is about a $200 upgrade where Snow Leopard is $29
Windows 7 is Vista pimped up (took them long enough...) the same as Snow Leopard is a pimped up version of Leopard, and personally I'd rather pay $29 for the Snow Leopard upgrade, Windows 7 doesn't look worth the money :/

*sigh* look I don't see why Windows 7 Ultimate is about a $200 upgrade where Snow Leopard is $29
Windows 7 is Vista pimped up (took them long enough...) the same as Snow Leopard is a pimped up version of Leopard, and personally I'd rather pay $29 for the Snow Leopard upgrade, Windows 7 doesn't look worth the money :/

what apple mostly does in its ads is not only blatantly lie, but also over exaggerate their claims and attacks and generalize and stereotpye the windows userbase. msft doesn't resort to this CHILDISH behavior. many mac fanbois i come across act like childish zealots with lame-O arguments that attack everything and anything non-a[[;e no matter how objective the report or story.
while i didnt get or like the seinfeld ads, apparantly there were a lot who did but whatever, that was a waste of money in my opinion. the people claiming they are pcs is no different fro mjustin SHlong and the other guy saying they are mac and pc. what that ad does and i feel works very well, is break that stereotype that apple has cast on windows. people of all shapes, types, abilities, personalities, and sizes use windows or what mac has labled as 'pc' windows isn't just for business nerds.
while the laptop hunters doesn't discuss windows per se, what they do is outline the financial benefits of buying a laptop with windows.
honestly, i dont know what they can find to bash 7 with. its so stable, fast, and utterly amazing, so the only thing they can do is flat out lie, exaggerate, and focus on the past or talk smack on the price.
apples mac ads were funny at first, but now they are old, tired, and make me hate them more for acting like KIDS.
im a pro media tech (work with all sorts of video, audio, images, animation, and effects) who uses my custom windows pc at home and mac at work. just FYI

"there are still obvious differences too"
This is my point. They have the same purpose, but they are different. Saying that the Dock is similar to the Superbar is like saying that OpenOffice (or KOffice) is similar to Microsoft Office 2007.
As for GNU/Linux, Linux is wrong. This was my point. It's an incorrect reference.

A lot of people have compared the new Windows 7 superbar to the OS X dock. They are very similiar in many ways, though there are still obvious differences too.

Also when I referred to Linux, this is obviously in a generic way.
