my X-Fi SoundBlaster works fine with windows 7… detected straight away, didn’t have to install the driver (I did just for update afterwords). Maybe you have one of the very old soundblasters that wasn’t even supported by vista.

I’m sticking with Vista SP2. I’d possibly upgrade down the road if the price was $50, but I don’t want to pre-order.
