If its more than $150 it will be a big mistake by MS. I like this OS a lot and I would go as high as $200 because I am upgrading from WinXP, but if you got Vista them it would not be.
At this time pricing is going to be very important.
Leopard retailed for $130 and Snow Leopard is being offered for $30 as a upgrade. MS could match these prices easily for Home Premium.
Many early user of Vista feel like they have been beta testing for MS for the last 3 years, so I think that MS should take a small hit on the price.

First, there is nothing wrong with Vista SP1 or SP2. It is a solid and stable OS - just requires more resources. Second, even if you don't like Vista, why should that entitle you to a free upgrade to Windows 7. It is the next Vista based OS but is still a major upgrade. If your current computer works but you don't like it, do you expect the manufacturer to give you a new model for free?

Selling it too expensive would be their worst mistake. Many people are willing to buy it, including myself (I have never bought Windows in the past, only got preinstalled).
But if they sell it too expensive, piracy will increase.
Besides, people will soon realize that, beyond the hype, 7 is not a revolutionary OS, it is only "Vista done right". Thus everybody with a Vista license should get 7 for free.

It's going to cost AT LEAST as much as Vista does unfortunately. I'm really hoping that the fact that Apple released Snow Leopard for 29$ will force them to significantly drop the price. But I'm very doubtful. It will be the same price as Vista, and it will be the only downfall to an otherwise great operating system.
