We mentioned before that Microsoft has optimized the performance of Solid State Drives in Windows 7 (read First Benchmarks Indicate Increased SSD Performance In Windows 7 and Windows 7 Expected To Increase SSD Demand). Super Talent released a press release a few days ago that mentioned a firmware update of their popular UltraDrive SSD series that would increase the performance of these drives in Windows 7 by up to 25%.
With the new firmware Super Talent has increased the maximum sequential read speed of both the UltraDrive ME and UltraDrive LE to 260MB/sec max and the sequential write performance of the UltraDrive ME to 200MB/sec max and the UltraDrive LE to 210MB/sec max, delivering the world’s fastest SATA 3Gb/s SSDs in a small 2.5” form factor.

Super Talent did also release the UltraDrive Performance Refresh Tool which tries to solve the problem of Solid State Drives slowing down after time due to fragmentation. The user of common defragmentation tools would decrease the performance even further.
It is very likely that other SSD developers will provide optimized firmwares for their Solid State Drives as well.
