Don't know why your 'video player' doesn't work but Windows 7 also comes with a nifty media center program which is rather simple but nice that it isn't something different and sold separately (not that it won't be some day). Also, not sure why you would use anything but VLC Player anyways, hehe. :)

Netflix, why would you expect that to work? Netflix is the most buggy P.O.S. on the net. You can't even watch anything using Linux either and its been around MUCH longer than Windows 7, sounds like Netflix needs to step up their game and keep with technology.

Video isn't the basis of the Internet. The Internet, also referred to as "The Information Highway" has just happened to evolve to be a place for various medias to fester. The Internet is a basis for information and it has since evolved into much more.

If it seems slower when pulling up programs and web sites you could always blame your computer and internet connection?

Sounds like a bucket of user error to me. =D

No bugs huh? You're kidding, right? And what 'research' did you study to arrive at that deep insight? Service Pack 1 is already being put together. I suppose you're not going to install antivirus or other security cause you think what is actually just the Vista kernel stripped of a couple GBs of Vista bloat in the OS and renamed Windows 7 only as marketing, nothing else. 7 is Vista. Vista is bad, 7 not so bad but just as bloated. I've used both and XP is still superior. Not as pretty but that's not what I look for in an OS.

Definitely nice that the RC is set for such a long time. I have been using it since the Beta and from my experience it is just as (if not more) stable than Windows XP (Microsoft's last decent OS).

I am a steady fan of Ubuntu Linux and have enjoyed using it for some years now and must say that this is one time I can say that I am somewhat pleased that Microshaft has stolen some features from other operating systems for their own.

I also notice going from Windows XP to Windows 7 that things open much quicker / smoother. At least for me, but I went from Windows XP x32 to Windows 7 x64 so it could be that it just utilizes my hardware more accurately.

Why did they do the longer RC time? Well I noticed a while back that they were also bragging that this time (unlike the beta) you could download the RC for [blah blah blah] amount of time. I think they are keeping it up longer so that they can get everyone hooked on it and by the time they release it people will think they NEED it.

Honestly, when I used Windows 7 Beta and read a few things here and there that still said "Vista" on them I felt like I was just a fool playing into the spider web that is "Windows Mojave" - haha!

The video player in Windows 7 does not work. The Netflix can not be played.
Video of all kinds is the bases for the internet so that should work first and be supported.
It also seems a lot slower when pulling up programs or a web site.

The virtualized XP thing is HUGE. I mean obviously that's always been there as an option, but now they're making it a part of the OS. fronting it as a feature. That is going to lure in many reluctant users who refuse to upgrade because "Super Game Pack Deluxe 2000" doesn't work. Also for the businesses running software taht only works on XP.

I think Win2k was a bit better than WinXP and I used WinME when it can out and I hated it.
Tried VistaME but it would not run right for me om a 2year old system I built and for a 2 year beta cycle drivers support was very bad.

who so ever said windows 7 is crap is apparantly looking for attention... so lets not address them.
I used couple win 7 builds so far, some were kind of "shakey" but the two most stable ones i've used is build 7000. from M$ an 7106 ( not the english russian version ) i build an repair machines as a business and by far win 7 out performs vista with more glass and areo which is going to cause a lot of folks to jump to it

Quick question.. the much anticipated Rc build which is due may 5th, what build is it ?

Vista x64 is not that bad. I have some problems with ATI drivers for win7 RC that I didn't have with beta. And sad to see x64 still require signed drivers, can't fully use Asus smartdoctor.

Well, well.....
I don't think it's a good idea to talk odd things about Win 7 which is at RC stage and still it's very fast and stable.

Carpo said that: "Vista & ME are the two of the worst OS’s brought out by Microsoft" and I say that xp and 7 are the best MS OS. Do you remember the time, when Microsoft announced that it was going to stop producing xp and several organizations and most of the custmers asked MS to prolong xp line? Nobody wanted to leave xp and go to Vista.

I don't know what popularity will 7 have (it seems it will be very popular), but xp was something that really didi its job and did it with great success, not like Vista.

So let's hope for the best :) Now I have 7100 build and I enjoy it too much! :)

It makes me sick when ppl who obviously know nothing about OS systems say windows 7 is crap.Well i'll put my two penneth in then. Vista & ME are the two of the worst OS's brought out by Microsoft.I've found Win 7 to be the best one yet a lot faster and better than XP & Vista combined.May I also state that i've had Vista from day one and while I personally have not had any trouble with it except maybe it's slow when you try doing anything heavy with it.
At the moment I have triple boot XP,Vista Ultimate & Win 7 all with identical programs on them and I know which I prefer to use....Yes Win 7 and dont forget it's still in the RC stage.

Now don't bash on vista, it made great advances in technology, was it a hog? There is no doubt, but that's because it was released before it's time, if it would've been Windows 7, then Vista, it probably would've been better.

As for the reasoning behind it, I'd say Microsoft wants to let those people that like waiting for SP's or that wait a "few months" to buy the OS the time to use it. I know I'm sold on it, there's nothing I don't like about it yet.

That is not true. Windows 7 is very stable and it combines the security of vista and speed of XP.
Vista is using ~1 GB for its own use!! windows 7-~512 mb.

I doubt it that you have ever seen windows 7. You would never say that.
