The minimum specification for most applications usually doesn’t allow you to experience the full features. How many times have you purchased a video game and then realised that your machine can only handle 10 frames a second?
Windows 7 is no exception. For the Windows 7 Beta Microsoft recommended the following min specification:
- Processor speed: 1Ghz
- Memory: 1GB
- Graphics card: DirectX 9.0 capable
- Graphics memory: 128MB (for Windows Aero)
- HDD free space: 16GB
I’ve read of Windows 7 beta testers who have managed to run the OS on old laptops, but I’d like to establish what’s the real min spec for Windows 7.? Is 16GB of HDD space enough? Is a faster processor required? If you’re running a Windows 7 build on a machine as slow or slower than the one below then please leave a comment stating what problems you’ve had, or whether everything is hunky dory.
