Which edition of Windows 7 will you purchase? That was the question of our last poll and the results are quite surprising. More than 46% of all voters said that they will buy Windows 7 Ultimate when Windows 7 comes out. The editions of Windows 7 that will be pushed into the retail market the most by Microsoft received 25% (Windows 7 Home Premium) and 16% (Windows 7 Professional).
The other three editions that have been announced by Microsoft received 3% (Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Enterprise) and 1% (Windows 7 Starter). More than 7% of the voters said that they would not purchase a copy of the next Microsoft operating system.
The surprising aspect of the poll results is that Microsoft made it clear to concentrate on marketing Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional in the retail market.
Microsoft is projecting that Windows 7 Home Premium will be purchased by most consumers worldwide while Windows 7 Professional will be the choice of small and medium businesses. Windows 7 Enterprise has been reserved for large business while Windows 7 Ultimate (which offers the same feature set as Windows 7 Enterprise) will target specialized consumers who do not want to miss any features of the new operating system.
Windows 7 Home Basic will only be sold in emerging markets while Windows 7 Starter will make its way only on entry level PC systems.
