Windows 7 News Roundup

The usual suspects have gotten their hands on the beta release of Windows 7 and are posting all kinds of news related to it. Today’s news roundup starts with Ed Bott’s analysis of the Windows 7 EULA. The main points that he discovered in the EULA are that users can install the Windows 7 Beta on as many computer systems as they like, that they should not use it in a production environment, that it will expire on August 1, 2009, that some privacy related features are turned on by default whereas they will be turned off in the retail version and that it is not allowed to benchmark the system. Not a lot of new information in here although the summer expiration date lead to new assumptions about the final release date of Windows 7.

Paul Thurott posted his beta news and observations about Windows 7 which contains a detailed look at the taskbar display settings, start menu and tray popup inconsistencies and some stability issues.

Next in line and last in this news roundup is Zack Whittaker with minor criticisms about Windows 7. He rants about the search in Windows 7 and application incompatibilities.
