Long posted another interesting find today. He discovered that Windows 7 supports Touch Panning which might be known by some as kinetic scrolling. It obviously requires a device that offers touch support. Users of Apple’s iPod or iPhone already know the feature that enables them to scroll with their hands. Windows 7 however provides system-wide support for that feature. System-wide does not necessarily mean that every application will support it. In its current stage both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox do not support Touch Panning will most Windows applications, like Notepad or the Start Menu support it.
Touch Panning is one of those locked features that have become recently available thanks to a system hack. Long mentioned that the current Touch Panning feature has a few minor quirks to sort out which seems to support the faction that believes that the locked features have been locked because of being incomplete. Long has a video up demonstrating the Touch Panning of the current Windows 7 build.
