@lak
You are so right.

Just got my shiny new i7 based box, 6GB Ram, another 2GB of GDDR5 on my 4870X2. Gonna trash the useless Vista install on it and get XP. Sure, half of my hardware will be going to waste, but at least I don't have to use Vista and won't have to find out if I've living with my head in the sand.

That said, numerous benchmarks have already shown 7 to be faster then XP in almost ever category on equivalent OLD hardware (not even talking about new hardware, which XP simply cannot utilize fully).

"The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."

I think there is no better OS like Windows XP SP2. Just buy a new computer, remove Vista, install windows XP and use all the tuneup utilities to remove the "cool" features. You will have the fastest OS never, better than Linux Ubuntu. I like Linux but I don't will recommend it to my mum.
Peace!

Microsoft messed up by not making Vista 64 bit only. It's not the only thing that was wrong but they certainly should have gone 64 bit only for that OS. It was the proper time for the market. When Vista came out, the majority of the CPUs being sold were 64 bit capable.
Perhaps this is a sign that Microsoft no longer has it's finger on the technological pulse, or perhaps they value money over actually advancing the industry.

Wow. I was hoping that Microsoft would give up after Vista. Oh well. I guess it's not time for the world to grow a brain and use Linux. Haha have fun with your viruses.
